Spring Cleaning Activities You Should not Overlook

Cleaning ActivitiesSpring is a time of renewal. It’s also the time to do some general home cleaning. After the long winter months, warmer weather can now permit you to go around the home and clean out all the dirt and grime that has accumulated over the past year. You can involve everyone in spring cleaning. Ask kids to organise their own rooms and help out in identifying stains around the house. Spring cleaning can become a fun bonding activity for the whole family.

Here are some activities some people forget to do during spring cleaning:

Polishing Silver and Steel
Using wax-based aerosol spray on stainless steel once or twice a week can keep it bright and clean. Make sure not to soak the surface lest you make it too greasy. A light mist will do. Then, wipe it off with a lint-free cloth. Remember never to use oils as lint is prone to sticking to them. Also, never use anything abrasive if you don’t want to scratch the surface.

For silver, a toothbrush and some water-soluble polish will work all right. Don’t make the mistake of putting your silverware into the dishwasher. Also, to keep the silver bright and shiny, keep it in anti-tarnish cloth bags when not in use.

Organize Closets
Begin the organising process with your closet. Get rid of unused clothes and accessories by donating to charity or packing them away for a garage sale. A good tip is to start the year with all hangers facing the same way. Whenever you use an article of clothing, put it back with the hanger facing the opposite way. All those on hangers still facing the original direction after one year should be taken out. You will feel ready to organise your entire house after you’ve finished with your closet.

Cleaning Walls and Patio Doors
For painted walls, start removing stains with a clean cloth or sponge and a bucket of water. If that doesn’t do the trick, mix in a little mild dishwashing liquid. In the event that the stain is stubborn enough to survive that, apply some soap onto the wet sponge or rag, or on the stain itself.

Cleaning your patio door’s windows is quite simple and does not require any special products. Make sure to never use paper towels whenever cleaning glass windows since they are prone to leaving behind lint. The best medium to use is plain white vinegar and water. Place this solution in a spray bottle and apply to the glass. Then, use clean newspapers or coffee filters to wipe away the dirt. Check out different kinds of patio doors at

Aside from these, make sure to also do maintenance repairs around the house. After the whole process of spring cleaning, you will be sure to experience a sense of accomplishment. Really throw yourself into the ritual. This can be a cathartic experience for many, and if it doesn’t inspire any feelings of relief for you, at least you can live in a clean house.
